Discipline & Character Development

Sunday Nights @ 6:00 (during regular worship service)

The Goal of this ministry

This ministry is designed to assist parents in the spiritual development (discipleship) of their children through helping parents instill Spiritual discipline and Godly character in their children.

The 3 step method to tackle this objective is

Theory - articulating truths and principles of each discipline and character of Christ
Demonstration - Demonstrating these disciplines and character qualities and observing them being demonstrated by others and in nature
Practice - Putting the ball int their hands. Engaging your child in projects and tasks that will allow them to practice their disciplines and develop their character intentionally.

Sunday Night (This is when we teach on the Discipline and Character Qualities providing the step of teaching in Theory)

Activity time
Worship (We want to provide an opportunity for the students to develop their musical talent through leading their peers in worship)
Teaching on a specific discipline & the character qualities needed to be disciplined in that discipline

Parent/Child Journal (Demonstration & Practice) (3 ring binder)

• Lesson Notes will be inserted.
• Answer the self examination questions of each character quality, we will focus on one character quality in a week.
• Parent Journal entry's of how the child demonstrated character & discipline
• Child entry of fulfilling character or discipline challenge.
• Child entry of observing a demonstration of that character quality by another person or in nature.
• Parent/Child Discussion Entry of the child's faithfulness and effectiveness in the discipline of the month. There will be a weekly entry on this topic as we will focus on one discipline a month, we will be looking for progress in discipline throughout the month as we develop the character qualities needed to be faithful and effective in each discipline of being a disciple of Christ.
• There will be a memory verse each week that comes from the lesson on the discipline or the character quality.
